“CHOOSING THE RIGHT INSPECTOR” 

There are a variety of building inspectors out there, and it is important to pick the right one. You may decide to get referrals from friends, relatives, or your agent. Try to call at least three of them. They will ask what type of property, how much square footage, whether there is a garage, decking, etc. An inspector will also want to know if you will need termite, well, radon, or septic inspections in addition to the basic home review, which will add to the cost. If you are buying an antique, it would be important to choose a building inspector who has a specialty in (or at least a lot of experience in) that type of home. Many people are part of the picture when purchasing a new home, and all are important to the success of the project- the inspector, the banker, the buyer, the seller, and the real estate agent to name a few.
