Overcoming Sellers’s Anxiety

As a general matter, we find ourselves in the midst of a “seller’s market” in which conditions generally favor sellers over buyers. One might think, therefore, that homeowners would be quite enthusiastic about selling their homes at a a time when they can largely expect to get the price the want in a relatively short period of time. However, despite the fact that inventories are comparatively low, many would-be sellers are reluctant to put their homes on the market because they are afraid that the hot seller’s market would make it difficult for them to purhcase their next home. To ease them through this transition, sellers should work with agents and brokers who have experience in such matters. Once you decide to sell your home, it can be helpful to start thinking of yourself as a business person and a home seller, rather than as the home’s owner. By looking at the transaction from a purely financial perspective, you’ll distance yourself from the emotional aspects of selling the property that you’ve undoubtedly created many memories in.
